Departmental Calendars
Department members often want to know "when events are happening," but it's difficult to get a complete list because we use three separate systems to manage events and schedules: the Student Information System (for classes and events scheduled in centrally managed rooms); Outlook room calendars (for departmentally controlled spaces); and the events listings on this website.
In an effort to capture a full picture of department events, our current effort (mid-autumn 2025) is to use the Comm Team event form to compile all events, so they can be brought together into a single overview calendar.
- Both public-facing and internal events may be submitted through the event submission form.
- Public events (co-)sponsored by the department appear in the website events listings, and are typically promoted on social media.
- Please note: The comm team does not reserve rooms. For reservation information, see the Denney Hall Room Calendars heading below.

Denney Hall Room Calendars
These calendars reflect events, meetings and classes taking place in a number of departmentally managed rooms in Denney Hall. If you would like to reserve one of these rooms for an event or meeting, please check the corresponding calendar first to see if your desired time is available:

The department is piloting a shared-office-space model. The goals of the transition are to apply learnings from how our work changed during the pandemic and to decongest high-density shared office (e.g. associated faculty/lecturers) so that we have an equitable distribution of our limited space. As part of the pilot, we’re making available additional space if a more private setting is needed for 1-on-1 student consultations, etc.

The reservation process applies to both the meeting rooms and shared office spaces. If your desired time is available, you also now have access to reserve these rooms directly in Outlook. This IT Service Desk article details the process, but you simply add the room name (examples listed below) in the attendees field when adding the event to your Outlook calendar. You should receive an automated approval email to confirm your reservation.

Reservation Restrictions
- Priority scheduling is given to Department of English sponsored events.
- Non-departmental room reservation requests must be submitted to english@osu.edu. Reservation requests will be reviewed and approved on an ad hoc basis. Recurring meetings will not be approved.
- Department administration may move a meeting to smaller room if one is available that will meet the needs of the reservation request.
Please do not submit reservations before the following dates. These are the approximate dates when the Registrar publishes each semester’s schedule of classes. Waiting to reserve rooms until the following dates allows priority scheduling for our classes (e.g. graduate seminars).
