ANNUAL ALUMNI PANEL AND DINNER
The Alumni Panel and Dinner is a signature English department event that highlights the many pathways of an English major, promotes mentorship and relationship-building between our alumni and students, and celebrates our community. Each autumn, we invite a few English alumni panelists to engage with current students, faculty, and fellow alumni as we share a meal together. The event begins with a buffet dinner, and then our panel discusses their experiences and offers advice to current students
Detailed information about the Annual Alumni Panel and Dinner is updated at the beginning of autumn semester on our events page. For any questions about the event and/or if you'd like to get involved, please contact our Undergraduate Program Manager, Dr. Katie Stanutz, at stanutz.3@osu.edu.
BOOK CLUB
Join us for Book Club, hosted by Department of English faculty, and enjoy conversation about some of the greatest novels of all time on the first Wednesday of the month throughout the summer. Featured books were the most popular titles selected by more than one hundred Department of English alumni in our “Top Ten Book List” survey. Titles are available from your local library digital books program or your local book stores. The event is free and open to the public, and all Ohio State alumni, students, faculty and friends are welcomed to join.

VISITING WRITERS SERIES
The MFA Program hosts visiting writers each year to engage with the creative writing community at Ohio State. Visiting writers conduct readings that are free and open to the public; books are also for sale. These readings are followed by a Q&A by audience members. Some visiting writers also conduct workshops with current MFA students, which gives our students the opportunity to work closely with poets and fiction and nonfiction authors.
FIRST CUT COLLECTIVE
Founded by alumni of Ohio State's English and theatre departments, First Cut Collective offers artists of all disciplines the opportunity to share their work, collaborate with others and step outside their artistic comfort zones. The organization was established as a virtual platform during the COVID-19 quarantine, but its founders also plan to host in-person events once it is safe to do so. Explore their Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube accounts, and submit an artistic work of your own.
