The College of Arts and Sciences Center for Career and Professional Success and the Department of English are hosting this hands-on workshop to give you resume tips and tricks (and warn you of pitfalls to avoid). RSVP (and more info) here.
In this workshop, Humanities majors and minors will learn to build a stand-out resume. If you have a drafted resume, please bring a copy (digital). If you don’t have one yet, no problem—this workshop will help you develop one. Additionally, if you are currently conducting a job/internship search, feel free to bring copies (digital) of job advertisements for opportunities that interest you.
At the end of this workshop, students will be able to:
- Identify the purpose of a resume, its structure and its key formatting elements
- Distinguish common missteps that job seekers make in resumes
- Recognize what employers look for in applicant resumes and the role that technology (Applicant Tracking Systems) plays in job searches
- Utilize skills developed in Humanities majors to critique and revise resumes (including their own)
- Develop their resumes and tailor them to specific job ads
