The Department of English at The Ohio State University recommends that prospective undergraduate students visit the Department. While you can learn a lot about us from reading our website and browsing University marketing materials, there are many things that you just have to experience yourself. For example: What does the campus feel like? Do you feel comfortable here? Is the staff accessible and friendly? Do the students look happy? Are the faculty genuinely engaged with you? What is the department culture? Etc.
In the Department of English, we are proud of the experience that we offer our students and are eager to show you why. A typical Department visit includes a tour of Denney Hall—the home of the Department—meetings with faculty in your area(s) of interest, sitting in on a class or two and conferencing with an academic advisor. If possible, we will also coordinate time for you to speak with current students.
We want to customize your visit to your interests and needs. As such, please answer the following questions as specifically as possible. After submitting this form, you will be contacted by a member of our advising staff to coordinate the logistics of your visit. Once we have all of the information we need, we will begin planning your visit and email you the completed itinerary two to five days ahead of your arrival. We will also mail you an informational packet containing details about your visit and a campus and parking map to make getting to Denney Hall as easy as possible.
Thank you for your interest in the Department of English at The Ohio State University. We look forward to meeting you, learning about your interests and showing you all that we have to offer!
Note: The MA/PhD and MFA programs hold open houses for accepted applicants each spring, at which time prospective students are encouraged to visit. Accepted students will receive information about these open houses directly from their program and will not need to request a visit using this form.
