Clarissa Surek-Clark is a sociolinguist who joined the English department in 2018. Her classes include Structure of the English Language and Introduction to Professional Translation. Her current research interests focus on Verbal Autopsy methods and multilingual data collection for health and demographic surveys. She is a practicing translator and interpreter of English and Portuguese, and has achieved certified translator status by the American Translators Association. She has extensive experience leading student and research groups to Sub-Saharan Africa.
