Virginia Cope is the author of Property, Education, and Identity in Late Eighteenth-Century Fiction: The Heroine of Disinterest, published by Palgrave MacMillan in 2009, and articles and reviews on gender and economic transformations, African American literature and racialization. She is currently working on projects on free women of color in antebellum New Orleans, cosmopolitanism and pedagogy and the fictional representations of Mary Wollstonecraft.
