It has been announced that Wendy S. Hesford is the recipient of the 2012 Rhetoric Society of America Book Award for Spectacular Rhetorics: Human Rights Visions, Recognitions, and Feminisms.

The Chair of the Award committee Cara Finnegan writes, “The field of nominees was very large and quite competitive, but your book stood out for its originality, the persuasiveness of its argument, and the importance of its topic. The committee especially appreciated the way the book speaks to multiple scholarly audiences (rhetorical studies, gender and feminism, visual culture, human rights and law) as it skillfully treats a transnational topic, the latter of which is far too often missing in rhetorical studies. It's an outstanding achievement, and we are glad to honor it.”
