Pablo Tanguay, Undergraduate Advisor, Honored with ASC Outstanding Staff Award

On April 9, Pablo Tanguay, Undergraduate Advisor, was among six staff members of the College of Arts and Sciences who were recognized with an Outstanding Staff Award by the ASC Staff Advisory Council.

Also among the Outstanding Staff Nominees was Lauren Potts, HR Associate and Assistant to the Chair of the Department of English. Nominees were honored at the ASC Outstanding Staff Awards luncheon, a project of the College of Arts and Sciences Staff Advisory Council (SAC). The goal of the annual event is to recognize staff members in the arts and sciences (with three or more years of service in the arts and sciences completed prior to the application deadline) who have demonstrated sustained excellence in overall job performance and have improved or enhanced work life and services of faculty, staff, students, and/or the university. Special consideration is given to staff who have enhanced the visibility of the college through interdisciplinary connections and/or community service.

Dean Steinmetz, Executive Dean and Vice Provost of the College of Arts and Sciences, presided at the luncheon and presented Pablo with his award, commenting at length about his many contributions to the Department of English and ASC Advising over the past several years. In an email to all staff and faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dean Steinmetz added of the nominees that, “[t]heir accomplishments, which go far beyond their job descriptions, make me proud to lead this college—but I also want to emphasize that I believe that this group is representative of the incredible dedication, commitment, and work ethic of our staff college-wide. … Our college could not be the model for teaching, research, and service to our communities that it is without your day-to-day unstinting efforts.”

It is a great testament to the English Department that two staff members were nominated for this College- level award, and the Department of English is grateful for both their extraordinary contributions to the faculty, students, and administration of this dynamic department.Congratulations Pablo and Lauren!
