Caleb Gonzalez awarded 2022 K. Patricia Cross Future Leader Award in Higher Education
The Department of English congratulates Caleb Gonzalez on being awarded the 2022 K. Patricia Cross Future Leader Award in Higher Education.
The K. Patricia Cross Future Leaders Award is a national award from the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U). It recognizes a cohort of eight doctoral-seeking graduate students across all disciplines who show exemplary promise as future leaders of higher education and are committed to academic innovation in the areas of equity, community engagement, and teaching and learning. Gonzalez is being recognized for his work in the field of Writing, Rhetoric, and Literacy.
This award honors K. Patricia Cross, Professor Emerita of Higher Education at the University of California–Berkeley. According to the AAC&U, “throughout her career, Dr. Cross helped the higher education community better understand our students, their characteristics and their needs, and recognize what our responsibilities should be.” Dr. Cross’ work has created a legacy of projects on age, socioeconomic class, gender, race, sexual orientation and numerous other aspects of intersectional social identity.
Hundreds of graduate students are nominated for the annual K. Patricia Cross Future Leaders Award. Finalists and winners alike are inducted into the AAC&U Future Leaders Society. Inductees will have access to an exclusive community designed to support ongoing engagement, collaboration and support.
Gonzalez will accept his award at the AAC&U's annual meeting in Washington, D.C. Gonzalez is the second graduate student from The Ohio State University, and the first from the College of Arts and Sciences, to receive this award.
Congratulations again to Caleb Gonzalez!
