Professor Irina Dumitrescu of Bonn University will visit the English department on Monday, October 3rd to give a workshop from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and a public lecture from 4 – 5:30 p.m. Details about the workshop and lecture will be posted as they become available. 

Professor Dumitrescu teaches medieval literature at the University of Bonn. She edits Rumba Under Fire: The Arts of Survival from West Point to Delhi, a collection of essays and poems on the humanities in times of crisis. Her scholarly essays have appeared in PMLAAngliaExemplariaForum for Modern Languages, and various collections. She has also published essays in the Yale ReviewSouthwest ReviewPetits Propos Culinaires, the Washington Post online, and Zócalo Public Square. Her essay, “My Father and the Wine,” was recently nominated for the James Beard Foundation’s MFK Fisher Distinguished Writing Award and chosen for the Best American Essays 2016.
