Danielle V. Schoon was raised in Arizona and Venezuela. She conducted longterm ethnographic dissertation research in Istanbul, Turkey in 2011-2012. After completing her PhD, she came to Ohio State as a partner hire and lectured in multiple units, including Dance, Near Eastern Studies, Comparative Studies, Political Science, Anthropology, Mediterranean Studies, Sociology, and the Office of International Affairs. She is now in her second year as an assistant professor of teaching in the department of sociology, where she teaches courses in pedagogy, immigration, and technology and society. Along with scholarly publications in the humanities and social sciences, Danielle's creative nonfiction work has appeared in Bradt Travel Guides and The Common. Her personal and travel essays explore themes of family, home, identity, belonging, place, movement and migration.
