Jake Nevrla was born in Vermont but did much of his growing up in Arkansas. After graduating from the University of New Hampshire, he spent many years working in an office, where he developed a sensitivity to fluorescent lights and jargon. His fiction often explores the complexities of family systems—both biological and chosen—through transgenerational patterns of trauma and reconciliation.
