The Department of English congratulates Associate Professor Jacob Risinger on being awarded the Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching.
The Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching annually recognizes ten faculty members for their excellence in teaching undergraduate, graduate and/or professional students. Students, faculty and alumni are all able to nominate faculty members.
According to the award website, “Recipients are recognized with a $5,000 honorarium made possible by gifts from The Ohio State University Alumni Association, University Advancement and the Office of Academic Affairs. In addition, the Office of Academic Affairs awards an increase of $1,200 to each recipient’s base salary. Members are also inducted into the Academy of Teaching.”
“I was totally surprised and yet also totally moved to receive the award,” Risinger says. Risinger has been with the Department of English since 2014 and writes and teaches about transatlantic Romanticism and the literature and philosophy of the long eighteenth century.
