Mary Hufford

Visiting Professor Mary Hufford is collaborating with Associate Professor Katherine Borland for their project titled “Stewarding Woodlands, Streams, and Community Life in Central Appalachia: A Regional Field School.” Their project is part of the Ohio Field School, which aims to “examine responses to economic, environmental and cultural change through everyday practices and expressive cultures.” The goal for their project is to encourage collaboration between land grant institutions and students across the Appalachian region in an interdisciplinary manner. In their proposal, they outlined the divide between environmental studies and the humanities. They hope that this project will help bridge this gap by engaging students who are “interested in the nexus of community life and environment in the Appalachian region.”

Congratulations again to Amy Shuman and Mary Hufford on this achievement!
