Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. The Ohio Union

The second Queer Places, Practices, and Lives conference to be held at the Ohio Union on May 16-17. The conference will feature keynote speakers Sara Ahmed and Eli Clare along with 48 panels composed of over 160 presenters from across the U.S. and internationally. The full conference program is now available as is the online registration form. The conference is free and open to both the OSU community and the public, but everyone who plans to attend any or all of the conference should pre-register. This truly interdisciplinary conference will offer provocative panels along with scintillating conversation about all sorts of queer-oriented topics.

We will also have a strong OSU English Department presence at the conference. The planning committee includes three faculty members (Debra Moddelmog, Joe Ponce, and Tommy Davis) along with three graduate students (Brendan Shaw, Michael Harwick, and Marie Franco). In addition, among the conference presenters are two OSU English faculty members, eight graduate students, one undergraduate student, and three alums.

English is also a major sponsor of the conference both as a department sponsor and through the Sam Steward fund, which is housed in the department. For more information, please visit the symposium website. Please direct questions to Debra Moddelmog (moddelmog.1@osu.edu) or Joe Ponce (ponce.8@osu.edu).
