Lauren Tilton will be on campus on Wednesday, March 22 at 4 p.m. to give a lecture titled, "Photography, Data Analysis, and its Possibilities." Her talk will discuss how computational analysis can reveal the federal government’s investment in a broader vision of America beyond that of rural poverty in the American South and Dustbowl. It will also explore how a digital, public project asks us to remix the archive and to reconsider lesser known photographers' roles in shaping the visual record of the nation.

Lauren Tilton is a visiting assistant professor of digital humanities at the University of Richmond. She is Co-director of Photogrammar and Participatory Media. Her focus is on the intersections of 20th century U.S. history, media studies and digital, public humanities.
