Julie Garbuz is an MFA candidate in creative nonfiction whose writing explores the first- and second-generation immigrant experience, origin stories, self-mythology and the American Dream. Previously, she taught writing workshops at the Tulsa County Jail through her work with Poetic Justice Oklahoma and secondary English as a 2013 Teach for America corps member.
