Michael Blancato is a PhD student in the Department of English specializing in rhetoric, composition and literacy. His research interests include labor issues in composition classrooms, online writing pedagogy and social justice pedagogy. He is currently working on a dissertation about how students in a composition course view and evaluate the significance of labor in their writing efforts. This project aims to integrate student perspectives about labor in composition classrooms alongside research on composition teaching and administrative labor in order to help define fair, responsible and equitable working conditions for all individuals invested in the success of college composition classrooms.
