Slate Interviews Professor Chad Allen About New Lone Ranger Film

New Lone Ranger still

On Wednesday, July 3, online magazine Slate published a piece on the newly released film The Lone Ranger. English Professor Chad Allen was interviewed about Johnny Depp's portrayal of the character Tonto in the film.

Allen, who coordinates the American Indian Studies Program at OSU said of the character, He may be the most pervasive American Indian character of the 20th century. And he’s purely fictional, unlike Pocahontas, Sacajawea, Crazy Horse, Sitting Bull or Geronimo. It’s not surprising he keeps getting recycled."
