New Programs: MA in Medical Humanities and Social Sciences and the Graduate Minor in English

book

A new semester means new classes, new faces and new books to read. In the Department of English, the new semester also means the debut of two new academic programs: the MA in Medical Humanities and Social Sciences and the Graduate Minor in English.

The MA in Medical Humanities and Social Sciences offers students the opportunity to follow their own interdisciplinary paths toward two common goals: using the perspectives of the humanities and social sciences to deepen their understanding of the values, practices, successes and challenges of contemporary medical practice; and building on that understanding to play a part in improving that practice. Graduates of the program will be prepared to enter the job market in fields such as public health, medical-facility administration and human resources. Graduates will also be well-prepared for medical school and PhD study in a variety of fields. The autumn 2018 application for the MA in Medical Humanities and Social Sciences opens on Oct. 1, 2017 and closes Dec. 8, 2017. More information about the application and requirements can be found on the program's webpage.

The Graduate Minor in English is designed for graduate students outside of English who wish to design a customized course of study to complement their primary graduate focus. The graduate minor in English is currently open and will accept applications on a rolling basis. Learn more today.
