The English Department is proud to recognize Lina Ferreira on being one of six writers to receive a 2016 Rona Jaffe Foundation Writer’s Award for her creative nonfiction work. Lina will receive $30,000 for the award, which will be presented to her on September 15^th in New York City.

The Rona Jaffe Foundation Writer’s Award seeks to recognize the special contributions women writers make to our culture and society. The emphasis is on those in the early stages of their writing careers.  It is the only national literary awards program of its kind dedicated to supporting women writers exclusively.
