Human Rights in Transit: Undergraduate Summer Program

Professors Wendy S. Hesford, Amy Shuman, and Jennifer Suchland invite International Studies Human Rights Minors and Arts and Humanities students to apply for a summer travel and study program. 

Students will attend Human Rights Watch Film Festival, explore Columbia University’s Center for Human Rights Documentation and Research archives, and tour UN Memorial to Honor Victims of Slavery and Transatlantic Slave Trade, African Burial Ground National Monument, and Stonewall National Moment. Lodging and travel accommodations will be provided.

Students accepted to the program must enroll in English 5193 (Course #15144) for 1 credit during first summer session with Professor Wendy S. Hesford.

Application Requirements: 1) a detailed cover letter (no longer than 1 page single-spaced) to indicating your interest in the program, and background study and/or experience in human rights; and 2) short statement about a research or creative project that you hope to develop based on the trip.
