The theme of the conference is ‘Shakespeare in America’—in connection with James Shapiro’s lecture on 4 April, 2014. Abstracts may be submitted on any topic, from the perspective of any discipline, on the subject of Shakespeare. However, papers that focus on ‘Shakespeare in America’ are especially encouraged. Possible topics include, but are not limited to: productions of Shakespeare’s plays in the colonial United States; Shakespeare’s relation to American authors; the place of Shakespeare in American education; Shakespeare and American counter-politics; the early texts and editions of Shakespeare’s plays and poetry; evaluations of Shakespeare during the postmodern era.

The due date for abstracts is February 15, 2014 at 11:59PM. Abstracts should be 300–400 words and should have a preliminary title. Title pages should include name, major, preliminary titles, and e-mail address. Both documents must be placed in the Sigma Tau Delta mailbox in 421 Denney Hall or emailed to osushakespeare2014@gmail.com.
