Whether you are a student planning to specialize in Professional Writing, someone looking to diversify your teaching experience and expand your professional profile, or a faculty member who wants to learn more about the department's Professional Writing opportunities, this session will help you understand how Professional Writing opportunities can fit into - and benefit! - your career. After lunch and the following brief presentations, there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.
- Jonathan Buehl will provide a brief overview of Technical and Professional Writing and our graduate coursework in this area.
- Christa Teston, Director of Business and Technical Writing, will describe teaching opportunities for graduate students in our 3000-level courses in Business and Professional Writing (3304) and Technical Writing (3305).
- Lindsay Martin, Coordinator of the Minor in Professional Writing, will describe GAA positions with her program.
- John Huber from Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company will describe GAA positions at Nationwide through which English graduate students work as technical writers and writing trainers.
- Sam Head, one of our current GAAs at Nationwide, will describe his experience in this exciting alt-ac funding opportunity.
