For those interested in the interdisciplinary field of Disability Studies, the publication process can be daunting. How do you find opportunities specific to Disability Studies? How do you integrate and explain Disability Studies when submitting to other humanities journals? How do you seek funding? What can you expect in terms of time, access, and support throughout the process?
During this workshop, Dr. Sona Kazemi will speak to her experiences in navigating the publication and grant submission process on a range of projects and will facilitate a discussion on publishing in Disability Studies.
Dr. Sona Kazemi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Race, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. From 2018 to 2022, she held multiple positions at The Ohio State University, including a postdoctoral fellowship with the Global Arts and Humanities Research Exchange. Sona is currently the associate editor for the Global Ideas Section at the Review of Disability Studies.
