Sarah Peters Kernan will discuss her path from graduate training at OSU to public scholarship, considering how research, teaching, and hands-on engagement with historic recipes and special collections helped her find a place within culinary historical studies and the nascent field of recipe studies. She will reflect on how academic inquiry can evolve through curiosity and unexpected encounters, as well as how graduate students can cultivate their own interdisciplinary trajectories. Lunch to follow for interested participants.
This event is sponsored by The Aldus Society, which is hosting a workshop with Dr. Kernan that participants might also enjoy on Thursday, October 9.
