Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Innovate Spaces Open House

Digital Media Project, RX Lab, and Podcast Studio
October 20, 2025
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
247, 324, and 402 Denney Hall

Looking to expand your research horizons?
Interested in rich media but don’t know how to get started?
Just want to learn about the innovative work going on in the Department of English?

You’re invited to an open house of three departmental spaces: the Reader Experience (RX) Lab, the Digital Media Project, and our new Podcast Studio. Drop by any and all of these spaces to learn more!

The RX Lab (402 Denney Hall)

A private space for collecting data about how real readers interact with visual and verbal messages. Check out how you might use the one-way mirror observation window, document camera, and/or the Tobii eye-tracking station to learn more about how people engage with content. Discover how students can use the lab to gather information about how readers read—especially when they want to revise content for our contemporary literate landscape (which, for better or worse, includes skimming, digital distractions, pop-ups, and artificial intelligence).

The Digital Media Project (324 Denney Hall)

A hub for projects engaging with rich media and innovative tech. We offer hands-on support, workshops, and consultations for both class projects and individual research — whether you’re just starting out or you’re an old pro, if you have an idea for something cool to do with tech in your classes or research, we want to support it. At the Open House you can visit our video game lab, see our range of loanable AV equipment, check out the possibilities of 3D printing, and more.

The Podcast Studio (247 Denney Hall)

Newly open this fall, this space offers students a state-of-the-art recording space especially suitable for podcasts and other group recording projects. The studio specializes in multi-camera, multi-microphone setups, and is capable of simultaneously recording up to 4 separate audio streams and 3 camera angles, all in a sleek professional space with adjustable lighting and a central control station.
