The Department of English will be sponsoring a blood drive on Friday, February 12th from 11am-4pm in 311 Denney. Due to the past month's severe weather nationwide, which causes both an increased need and decreased supply due to cancelled drives, the Red Cross is currently experiencing a 'critical shortage' of blood products. Those eligible to donate blood are earnestly implored to do so.
To donate: please sign up online for an appointment slot. While drives are sometimes able to accept drop-ins, it’s much easier for the staff to plan if donations are scheduled, and of course drop-ins can only be accepted if there’s space, so there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to donate.
An extra incentive: All donors at this drive will be entered to win $2,000 in Kroger giftcards
Who can donate: Generally speaking, those who last donated on or before December 18, 2015 are eligible to donate in this drive. For a more specific list of eligibility criteria, visit the Red Cross website.
If you cannot donate: If you are unwilling or unable to donate blood, but would like to help in some other way, you have options.
- If you would like to donate your time, please contact Cat Elkins, our Red Cross rep, who is CC’d on this email.
- If you would like to donate your money, the Red Cross maintains an online donation page; you can earmark your donation for our local Red Cross office, for disaster relief, or for whatever the organization most urgently needs.
- And of course, you can spread the word about this drive.
