John W. Roberts (Professor) (Ph.D., The Ohio State University)  African American literature and folklore, American fiction and folklore, folklore theory. Author of From Trickster to Badman: The Black Folk Hero in Slavery and Freedom; From Hucklebuck to Hip Hop: Social Dance in the African American Community in Philadelphia; African American Folklore in a Discourse of Folkness (in progress), many articles, book reviews, and papers on African-American literature and American folklore.
