Department of English Undergraduate Research and Thesis Grants
The English Undergraduate Studies Committee accepts applications on a rolling basis from undergraduate English majors who plan to work on a thesis project and who want funding to support their thesis work; or who need funding to enrich their undergraduate research experience, such as travel money to a research library or to present a paper at a conference. Students may apply for up to $1,000 to fund their projects.
Application Requirements: To be considered for funding, students will need to submit the following materials:
- A description of the proposed project and when it will be undertaken (500-word maximum)
- A detailed explanation as to why and for what the student is seeking funding, including an itemized list of proposed expenses
- A statement of support from the student's thesis advisor or from a relevant faculty member who can speak to the value of the proposed undertaking to the student’s program (1-page maximum)
Submission Procedure: These materials should be emailed as an attachment with the subject line "Undergraduate Research and Thesis Grant application" to Pablo Tanguay at firstname.lastname@example.org. No hard copies will be accepted.
Funding will be awarded on a competitive basis; please allow 28 days for the review of your application.
