**DEADLINE: 5:00 PM ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2018**
This annual award is designed to recognize critical and scholarly writing by undergraduates enrolled in upper-level courses offered by the Department of English at The Ohio State University. The recipient of this award is recognized during the Department of English's annual awards ceremony in April and receives a $500 scholarship.
Eligibility: All applicants must have completed a critical or scholarly essay as part of an Ohio State English course at the 3000-level or higher during the immediately previous fall, summer or spring semesters (essays completed during earlier semesters will not be considered) and have been enrolled as an undergraduate at Ohio State during the semester in which the essay was written (all majors are welcome to apply for this award)
Application Requirements: Students who meet the above criteria should submit an application consisting of the following:
- A completed Reiter Application Form.pdf
- The student’s essay submission. Submission must remain anonymous. That means your name cannot appear on any pages of the essay itself.
Submission Procedure: These materials should be emailed as an attachment with the subject line "Reiter scholarship application" to Pablo Tanguay at email@example.com. No hard copies will be accepted.
Selection and Award Process: All applications will be forwarded to the Reiter Prize awards subcommittee by the Undergraduate Studies Academic Program Manager. Current members of the department's Undergraduate Studies Committee will be assigned to serve on this subcommittee by the Director of Undergraduate Studies. The subcommittee will review all applications and essay submissions and will determine the winning essay. The Undergraduate Studies Academic Program Manager will then notify the winner and invite that student to attend the department's annual awards ceremony, which takes place in April, along with up to four guests of the student's choosing. The student's $500 scholarship award will be processed after the awards ceremony through the student's university financial account
