Liz Steinway

PhD Candidate



Elizabeth Steinway is a PhD candidate in the Department of English specializing in early modern literature, drama, and gender and sexuality studies. Her dissertation, “Configuring the Pregnant Body in Early Modern Drama,” examines the ways that various early modern discourses—such as medical texts, legal documents, and midwifery manuals—intersect with and speak to the performance of pregnancy on the early modern stage. Steinway also serves as a graduate administrative associate at the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies.
