Sonya Parrish specializes in long eighteenth-century transatlantic literature, captivity studies, gender studies, speech act theory and literature and writing pedagogy. She has taught classes in the Department of English at Ohio State for four years. Her first year writing courses focus on crime and punishment in American popular culture (1110.01) or horror and fear in literature (1110.02). While the majority of her teaching is in the First-Year Writing Program, she has also taught ENG 3372: Special Topics in Science Fiction and Fantasy Literature and ENG 4592: Special Topics in Women in Literature and Culture.
