Maryna Matlock received her BA from the University of Denver before coming to pursue her PhD at Ohio State. Her teaching and research interests center on the intersections of childhood studies and children's literature with Victorian literature and culture. She is particularly interested in exploring fairy tales and other neo-Victorian revenants of fantasy and horror in contemporary novels for young adults. A former secondary Spanish educator, she is also interested in memory, trauma and the ways in which the Victorian Gothic and dark fairy tales have been mobilized as critical feminist idioms in Spanish-language literature and film.
