Zaira Girala Munoz is a graduate student in the Rhetoric, Composition, and Literacy program. Their research interests center on how scientific and medical institutions and multiply marginalized communities rhetorically interface. In the past, they have also utilized food studies to analyze cookbooks as artifacts through which Latine authors navigate identity, community and health. They were the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences editor for the 22nd volume of The UMBC Review, The University of Maryland Baltimore County's Undergraduate Research Journal. Zaira is an alumnus of the Robert E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program at UMBC. Their previous conference presentations include "Cooking up Identity: Gender and Cultural Scripts in Latine Cookbooks".
