Vic Smith

MA/PhD Student

Vic Smith is a first-year fellowship student progressing toward an MA/PhD in Early Modern Literature and a graduate minor in theatre and performance.

Influenced by their experience as a non-binary person, Smith's research challenges gender construction, presentation and transition in literature and performance from queer and feminist perspectives. They are currently preoccupied with gender anxiety in Early Modern English texts, especially in "cross dressing" plays. Among their professional interests are representing trans and gender-variant bodies in performance, examining the discourse of trans experience and revisiting texts from a trans-inclusive perspective.
