Cathy Ryan, a senior lecturer in English, has been named the newest member of Ohio State’s STEAM Factory, a community-wide network that facilitates interdepartmental collaboration between faculty and staff, as well as the dissemination of research throughout the Columbus community.
At Ohio State, Ryan specializes in visual narrative and storytelling, graphic novel and literary adaptation, sound mapping and collaboration in multidisciplinary settings where academic and non-academic partners reach across traditional boundaries.
Ryan has been nominated for two teaching awards: the Provost’s Award and the Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching. Among her other accomplishments, Ryan has completed in-depth work with the Max M. Fisher College of Business, is a founding member of The Ohio State University’s Digital Arts and Humanities Working Group, and has co-produced ten plays with Columbus-based drama collaborative, Women at Play. Her current research focuses on Digital Literacy, Music and Arts (DLMA).
