David Brewer Named Editor of Studies in Eighteenth-Century Culture

Associate Professor David Brewer has been appointed editor of Studies in Eighteenth-Century Culture. Brewer will officially begin the position during the 2020-2021 academic year. He will spend 2019-2020 serving as associate editor, learning from the journals current editors Eve Tayor Bannet, recently retired from the University of Oklahoma, and fellow Ohio State faculty member Roxann Wheeler.

Studies in Eighteenth-Century Culture (SECC) is an annual journal and one of the two scholarly journals published by the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (ASECS). Brewer served on the journal’s editorial board from 2014 to 2017 and is excited for this chance to shape the future of eighteenth-century studies.

“I think there is a lot of exciting and powerful work being given at these conferences, and I look forward to helping present it to and preserve it for a broader audience than was able to hear it in oral form,” says Brewer.

One striking feature of SECC is how it specializes in publishing revised conference paperps given at ACES and its affiliates’ meetings. This structure enables SECC to showcase current scholarship, unlike most other prominent journals, whose backlogs necessitate publishing submissions from several years ago.
