With several hundred buildings on main campus, navigating Ohio State can be confusing at first. Here are some places on campus worth checking out.
Thompson Library: OSU’s flagship library, Thompson Library is ranked #5 among public university libraries. It has a large, quiet reading room, and many nooks and crannies to study in. Thompson Library also houses Rare Books and Manuscripts.
18th Avenue Library: Formerly the Science and Engineering Library, the 18th Avenue Library is the right next to Denney Hall. It’s not as nice as Thompson, but it has a café and has recently been renovated.
Geology Library: This is a quiet, small library tucked away in Orton Hall. It has an old-world feel to it, and is a pleasant place to read or study.
Billy Ireland Cartoon Library: This new facility, located in Sullivant Hall, is an excellent, dedicated special collection.
Recreational and Physical Activities:
Adventure Recreation Center (ARC)—basketball courts, free weights, strength training machines and cardio equipment. Also houses the OAC.

Jesse Owens South Recreation Center (JOS)—basketball courts, table tennis, bouldering wall, free weights, strength training and cardio equipment.
Jesse Owens West Tennis Center (JOWTC)—four indoor tennis courts.
Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC)—Climbing wall and bouldering cave, outdoor equipment rental.
Recreational and Physical Activities Center (RPAC)—free weight, strength training, and cardio equipment; basketball, squash, and racketball courts; indoor track; aquatics center; babysitting.
Coffee and Food
Heirloom Café: Located in the Wexner Center for the Arts, Heirloom Cafe features local, seasonal food. It is owned and managed by Northstar Cafe's first executive chefs, and is your best bet for tasty, healthy food on campus.
Sloopy’s: A diner located in the Ohio Union, Sloopy's heavily features comfort food.
Union Market: Grab-and-go style food, including hamburgers, salads, soups, and a rotating selection of international fare. The Union Market is located in the Ohio Union.
Most libraries have a café run by Crimson Cup, and there are Starbucks located in Rohr Hall, MacPherson Lab, and Hagerty Hall.
Student Wellness Center (Located in the RPAC): offers counseling in many different areas, including nutrition, smoking cessation, and stress and sleep management.
Younkin Success Center: Includes career counseling, the University Center for the Advancement of Teaching, and Counseling and Consultation Services.
The Ohio Union: Houses the OUAB and CGS, includes study spaces with fireplaces, and D-Tix.
