Various funds exist to support the activities of the English Department, and the activities of programs and areas associated with the English Department. There are a variety of methods for making a gift to English Department Funds.

In addition to making one-time gifts via credit card or check, Ohio State employees may give to the university by setting up a payroll deduction. To do so, visit the Campus Campaign online website or download a Campus Campaign giving form [pdf].

Primary Program Funds
Contributions are used to support and enhance the activities the Department sponsors for its faculty, students, and staff. These activities, which might include holding a reception for a visiting scholar or purchasing tickets that allow English majors to attend a Shakespearean play, promote and enhance the academic programs and environment of the Department. This is the Department's primary general use fund.
Program support for the Creative Writing Program in the English Department. Funds can be used for any aspect of the Creative Writing Program, including visiting writers' workshops, prizes and awards, travel for MFA students, the Young Writers' Workshop, and many other related programs.
Discretionary fund, used to support and enhance the activities of faculty and students in the Rhetoric, Composition and Literacy Studies program of the English Department.
Used to support literacy seminars, working groups, conferences, travel, etc. for faculty within the university who are involved in literacy studies.
To support the Department of English's endeavor to Project Narrative, designed to capitalize on the unique strengths in area of narrative theory, used with research and teaching for conferences.
Named Award Funds
Established to honor the memory of Kitty O. Locker, English professor of Rhetoric and Composition at O.S.U. for 20 years. Outstanding Researcher Award, 1992; Outstanding Teacher Award, 1998. To Support Teaching Awards and Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarships in the Department of English in the area of Business and Professional Writing.
Contributions are used to support and enhance the activities the Department sponsors for its graduate students. Funds can be used for any aspect of the graduate program, including visiting scholars’ workshops, prizes and awards, travel for graduate students, and many other related programs.
Income provides an annual award of $500, to be used toward the tuition of a full-time undergraduate student majoring in English. The purpose is to reward and encourage Undergraduate excellence in English Studies.
Fund established in honor of Professor David Citino, poet. He served O.S.U. from 1974-2005. Poet Laureate of the University, Exemplary Faculty Award Winner, Alumni Professional Achievement Award Winner, and recipient of the 2004 Governor's Award for the Arts in Ohio. Not limited to but including Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarships and Travel Abroad Experiences for Students in the English and Creative Writing Departments.
Established in honor of Gen's longstanding commitment to teaching writing and her dedication to undergraduate student writers. The funds will be used to support undergraduate students in the first year writing courses at The Ohio State University, and to provide awards to students’ submissions in undergraduate writing journals.
Award established to honor longtime faculty member, former Chair and acknowledged “good citizen” of the English Department, upon her retirement. The fund is used for an annual award for one faculty member, selected by the Chair, who embodies generosity and citizenship in the Department of English.
Supports professional opportunities for English graduate students, including travel to conferences and research sites fellowships; study-abroad programs; student-sponsored conferences.
Established to honor Professor David Frantz, upon his retirement. Supports undergraduate studies, both student and faculty support, in the Department of English at The Ohio State University.
Established July 2, 1999, from his estate through The Foundation. Income supports graduates in the English Department Graduate Program, specifically research for and the writing of their thesis or dissertation.
