Ohio Field School Course Information Sessions
The Center for Folklore Studies and the Department of English invite you to learn more about the spring 2020 Ohio Field School course in Perry County. Interested students can attend on of the course's information sessions to learn more about the field school:
October 30 at 4 p.m. at the Center for Folklore Studies Archives at 218 Ohio Stadium, 1961 Tuttle Park Place
November 14 at 4 p.m. in 451 Haggerty Hall. Pizza will be provided!
The Ohio Field School course offers an introduction to ethnographic field methods (participant-observation, field notes, photographic documentation, audio-interviews), archiving and the public exhibition of research for both undergraduates and graduate students.
This course encourages undergraduate and graduate students from a wide variety of disciplinary backgrounds to apply, especially those who wish to gain first-hand experience in ethnographic research, digital archiving and community engagement while working with grass roots community organizations in Appalachian Ohio.
During the information session, the instructors, Dr. Jasper Waugh-Quasebarth and Dr. Katherine Borland, will give a brief overview of the ethnographic field school and answer any questions.. Students who are interested may then apply for the course and register pending instructor approval. If you are not able to attend but wish to learn more, please email waugh-quasebarth.1@osu.edu for more information.
