Our Courses

The Department of English offers over 200 courses for undergraduate- and graduate-level students. These courses focus on a diverse array of topics from across the fields of American and British literature; world literature; critical and narrative theory; film, video game analysis and other areas of popular culture studies; rhetoric, composition and literacy; digital media studies; and folklore. We also offer creative writing workshops in fiction, nonfiction and poetry. 

The list of autumn 2018 courses below was updated in October 2018 and will be periodically updated going forward. For the most current and complete course information, however, we strongly recommend that you check the Buckeyelink Enrollment and Registration page.

English Advising, Schedule Planning and Registration Services

Cecilia Johnson and MaryKatherine Ramsey provide advising services for all students in the Department of English. Cecilia serves as the primary advisor for students with last names A to L. MaryKatherine serves those students with last names M to Z; she also advises all disability studies minors.

Daily Drop-In Hours

Student are welcome to bring quick questions and urgent concerns to the advising team during drop-in hours. Students interested in declaring a minor are also encouraged to visit during drop-in hours.

  • Mondays: 9:30 to 11 a.m.
  • Tuesdays: 2:30 to 4 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 12 to 1:30 p.m.
  • Thursdays: 9:30 to 11 a.m.
  • Fridays: 3 to 4:30 p.m.
