Computers and Composition: An International Journal, Associate Editor
One position at 25% for 4 quarters.

Computers and Composition is seeking a graduate student to assume the Associate Editor position for Computers and Composition. Applicants should be interested in gaining experience editing an international professional journal and learning about the current state of digital media scholarship in composition. The Associate Editor works with the journal's Editor (Dr. Cynthia Selfe) at OSU and with the journal's staff at the University of Illinois (Dr. Gail Hawisher and Patrick Berry).

The job of Associate Editor is a 25% position—year around, including summer. Previous editing experience is highly desirable. A knowledge of Standard, grammatical English, a good sense of humor, and a willingness to learn about our editing philosophy and practices are expected. Working with Dr. Cynthia Selfe (Editor), the Associate Editor will be responsible for corresponding with authors, Guest Editors, and the Elsevier International staff in Ireland; coordinating journal publication schedule; and copy editing. This is an international journal, coordinated through the efforts of editorial staff members in several locations; thus, while the hours the Associate Editor works are somewhat flexible, the deadlines are firm and non-negotiable.

The benefits of working on this widely read international journal include first-hand experience of the workings of the publishing world; in-publication recognition with one of the most important journals in the field; valuable professional and editing skills; experience working with scholars in the field of computers and composition; and access to ScienceDirect and all its electronically housed journals.

Computers and Composition was founded in 1983 and has a companion online journal, Computers and Composition Online (http://www.bgsu.edu/cconline), established in 1996. Please visit our Web site at (http://www.bgsu.edu/cconline/).

To apply, send a brief letter of application to Dr Cynthia Selfe (selfe.2@osu.edu) or Cormac Slevin (slevin.6@gmail.com) by May 5, 2008. For further information, please contact either of these individuals.
