Tours, France - June 2008.
Abstract deadline extended to April 7th!
New Board of Trustee Members Elected.
Once again, the International James Joyce Foundation plans to award six scholarships to aid graduate students who plan to attend the International James Joyce Symposium in Tours, in June.
The deadline for applications for the scholarships to assist graduate students attending the Symposium is April 1, 2008. Applicants need not be members of the Foundation; any graduate student working on Joyce may apply. The award is for $800, out of which sum U. S. taxes must be deducted.
Applicants (who must be graduate students when they apply, although they may have completed their work by the time of the award) should send a one-page summary of a book, M.A. thesis, or Ph.D. dissertation, including a specific description of the work that has already been done on Joyce as well as future plans, and a brief statement about how the work would be presented at the Symposium. Students should also send a c.v. The student should also request that two letters of recommendation be sent by the deadline; these recommendations will be an important element being evaluated by the committee judging the applications. Recommendations may be mailed to the office; the statement and the c.v. should be sent in a hard copy and electronically. Materials should be sent to the International James Joyce Foundation, Department of English, the Ohio State University, 164 W. 17th Ave., Columbus, OH 43210; ijjf@osu.edu.
Faculty members are urged to encourage their qualified students to apply.
