In the Class of All Classes That Are Not Members of Themselves

To see the recognizable geometry of thing seen,
you are standing once again beside the birdhouse, which is shoulder-high,
and on a silver pole.
Depending on the staging, it's tree first,
or birdhouse.
Or perhaps the spaniel.
And what is that place like,
as the swirl of dust here forms something of a stair
into clouds
that seem formed for the purpose.
Set as a question, you walk along a field track,
simply following it.
You have buildings in your eyes, buildings small
behind the tree
and this swirl of dust here before you.
A familiarity of cases.
The dog, left forefoot forward.
The tall grass bending in large arcs.
Tell me again
how I don't know what love is.
