English Placement Levels

English test required to determine placement in levels 3-6
Placement into one of these seven categories will be determined based on a number of criteria, which are dependent upon your position at the univerity. Select the link that most resembles your circumstance from the list below.
Students with English ACT or SAT Verbal scores less than 3 years old
Students 21 years of age or older
Students with English ACT or SAT verbal scores more than 3 years old
Transfer students without English 110.01 credit
Students with Advanced Placement Exam scores

Category I: Students with English ACT or SAT Verbal scores less than 3 years old
Students with valid ACT or SAT scores will be granted initial placement into level 3, 4, or 7, according to the following chart:

Category II: Transfer students without credit for English 110.0x, students 21 years of age or older, or students with SAT or ACT scores over 3 years old
Students who fall into Category II will be granted initial placement into level 0, 4, 5, or 6, according to the following chart:

Students who are 21 years of age or older
0 (Students have option to take the English Test, which will determine placement into level 3, 4, 5, or 6).
English 110.01/02 or determine by English test or determined by current ACT in consultation with advisor.
Transfer students without credit for English 110.0 and 4 or more English credits and with ACT/SAT scores more than 3 years old
If student chooses not to take the English Test, s/he will be placed into level 4 after the orientation session.
Transfer students without credit for English 110.0x and fewer than 4 English credits and with ACT/SAT scores more than 3 years old
English Test required, placement into level 4, 5, or 6
Category III: Students with Advanced-Placement Test Scores Students who receive a 4 or 5 on their Advanced-Placement English Literature and Composition Test may place into level 1 or 2.
