Terry Galloway to Give Reading and Performance
Terry Galloway, a deaf performer/comedian and author of her recent memoir, Mean Little Deaf Queer, will perform and read excerpts from her memoir at 7:00pm on November 9, 2009 in Denney Hall, Room 311. Galloway has been said to write with "disarming candor" about her experiences growing up in Texas, her mental breakdown, her queer identity, and living in a silent, quirky world populated by unforgettable characters. She has used "theater and performance, whether onstage or off, to defy and transcend her reality." Galloway's visit is sponsored by Disability Studies, Sexuality Studies, and the Department of Theater.
