Worksheet on Comparing Texts

submitted by Anne-Marie Schuler
  1. List the Similarities and Differences between A & B:
  2. Examine the similarities. What differences do you find between them?
  3. Examine the differences. What similarities do you find between them?
  4. “A comparison won’t have a point inherently – you need to consciously give it one…Rather than sticking with a range of broad comparisons, try to focus on a key comparison that you find interesting or revealing” (Rosenwasser and Stephen 63). Identify one similarity despite difference, or difference despite similarity.
  5. On the back write a paragraph explaining your choice, and answer and explain its significance.
  6. On the back, write another paragraph in response to your paragraph in #5, answer the question “So What?” Keep pushing until you have answered this question 3-4 times.
