Digital Resources at OSU

Carmen (OSU's class management system) based on the Desire2Learn platform provides students with an easy to use and consistent class Web environment. For faculty, Carmen offers instructional management and delivery options, a simplified course-development process, and a consistent interface.
ePortfolio is an open-source, sakai-based online portfolio system that provides students and professors with a persistent space for collecting, revising, and publishing personal and professional media developed during their tenure as students.
Humanities Information Systems provides computing infrastructure, services, support, and innovation for the College of Humanities academic, research and outreach programs. HIS staff members offer an impressive range of expertise to faculty and departments. They can help faculty and departments design dynamic Web sites; build standalone, interactive instructional programs; transform teaching materials from one analog or digital format to another; produce original images and videos for teaching or research; design and maintain complex computer networks; and troubleshoot hardware and software problems.
Media Manager was developed at OSU to provide faculty and staff in the Arts and Sciences with an easy-to-use space for storing and accessing video, image, and audio files. Teachers and groups can establish asset collections on the Media Manager that are open to the public or restricted to specific groups.
Office of Information Technology is the central office of informational technology for OSU. Their responsibilities range widely but most importantly for Digital Media Studies is their help in providing smart classrooms for teachers, digital video cameras and audio recorders for students and teachers to check out, and support for individuals using OSU Webmail or Carmen.
Technology Enhanced Learning & Research champions the enhancement of teaching and learning through the thoughtful integration of innovative instructional technologies, strategies, and research at OSU. TELR is responsible for transforming learning environments for faculty, staff, and students, both on campus and at a distance. At the heart of TELR is a team of highly skilled professionals comprising instructional technologists, visual and Web designers, Web programmers, accessibility specialists, and researchers. The team provides Ohio State’s academic community and its external partners with scalable, end-to-end eLearning and visual communication solutions.
Web Accessibility Center in the Office for Disability Services was established as a collaboration between the Office for Disability Services, the College of Education and TELR to assist faculty in developing accessible distance education courses, as well as any on-line segments of OSU courses. ?Currently the WAC has begun assisting faculty with their on-line distance education courses and Web-enabled lecture series. The mission of the Web Accessibility Center is to assist faculty with accessible design and universal Web designs that help accommodate students with learning and/or physical disabilities so that they can access online course material just like any other student.
