U.S. Ethnic and Postcolonial Literature
The English Department at the Ohio State University has a number of faculty teaching, researching, and publishing in the areas of U.S. ethnic and postcolonial literatures. While each faculty member has his or her own method and approach to their various objects of study (narrative fiction, poetry, autobiography, comic books, performance art, and film, to name a few) all share a common interest in enriching our understanding of how race and ethnicity, colonialism and imperialism, nationalism and transnationalism intersect with class, gender, sexuality, and other categories of power and difference. In the study of verbal and visual expressive culture in its many guises, our faculty strengths stand in areas such as African-American, American Indian, Asian American, Latino/a, Jewish, and Postcolonial.
